In 1993, our family, Tom, Barb, Christopher and Amanda moved from
Oakville, Ontario to a small town outside of Portland, Oregon.
We purchased a country property and along with this property came a
quarter horse, which we purchased for $1. The horse’s name
is Midnight Royal Blue. Amanda was very keen on learning to
ride so she took lessons from a nearby trainer. Quickly
learning to ride and wanting to compete at shows, it became apparent
that “Blue” although loved very much by us was a pet and would
not be a show horse. So, we purchased a beautiful appaloosa
mare named “Honor and Grace”. Amanda and Grace soon became
inseparable and took to the show scene. They accomplished so
much in such a little time winning many ribbons, buckles and
trophies. Along the way Barb fell in love with an Arabian
horse named Blue Rashan Bask and he found a home along with Blue and
Grace.

In 1996, we returned to Canada with three horses (one in foal),
three dogs, two cats and a new son named Joshua. Josh came to
live with the family in 1995 and was adopted in 1996. We
purchased a 102 acre farm near Shelburne, Ontario just outside the
hamlet of Conn. We named it “Royal Blue Acres” after our
first horse Blue. Since that time we have extensively
renovated the farm to suite our needs and have been breeding
appaloosa horses ever since.
